Foundation For California

The Foundation For California will open “The Courage To Remember”, an educational exhibit on the Holocaust, at California State University Fresno’s University Student Union Building (Pavilion Conference Room) on Thursday, September 22 at 4:30pm.

This exhibit will be open to the public for viewing beginning on September 22 at 4:30pm through September 27 at 10am.  Its display hours will be from 9am-9pm each day, with exception to the abbreviated display hours of September 22 (4:30-9pm) and September 27 (9-10am).

CSUF’s University Student Union Building is located next to the library and in front of the bookstore on the CSUF campus.

In attendance will be civic, educational, business, political, religious and community leaders.  Additionally, we hope to have the fortune and honor of hosting a Holocaust Survivor at this event.

A little bit about “The Courage To Remember …

“The Courage To Remember” is an historical exhibit of the Holocaust created by the Museum of Tolerance.  The Foundation For California is pleased to coordinate a statewide tour of this traveling exhibit over the next year to continue Holocaust education in communities throughout California.

This exhibit is a 42 panel educational exhibit on the Holocaust of 1933-1945.  It is an historical account of the Nazis’ murderous campaign in which 6 million Jews and others (political dissidents, P.O.W.’s, Slavs, Gypsies, homosexuals and the mentally ill) were killed between 1933 and 1945.

The crimes of the Nazis during the Holocaust serve as a dark chapter of the 20th century.  Yet, the causes of the Holocaust remain with us today.

Man’s flawed nature, racism and complacency of ordinary people in the persecution of others persist.

Therefore the need for this exhibit.  Individual citizens must have the courage to remember, educate themselves of this tragedy and commit to prevent such crimes from happening again.

This exhibit of the Museum of Tolerance is made possible by an educational grant from SNCF and presented by the Foundation For California.
